Covenant Relationship with God
Please enjoy another conversation between Stephanie Pavlantos and me on her Grafted: Jewish Roots of Christianity show. We start out talking a little about my book, A Place for Me in God’s Tent. Then we go on to consider how walking through the tabernacle illustrates how we grow in covenant relationship with God–from servant to friend to family member and ultimately to bride of the bridegroom.
It’s interesting this just now went live. My morning devotions begin with normal Bible readings, but lately, I’ve added time in the “old tomes.” My current selection is a ponderous thing called, The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah: Complete and Unabridged in One Volume, by Alfred Edersheim. Of its over 1,100 pages, I’m finally almost halfway and what do you think he happens to mention? “The Covenant-union between God and Israel was not only compared to a marriage, but the Tabernacle and Temple designated as ‘the bridal chambers.'” Bingo! Even divinely inspired architecture says something about a covenant relationship with God.
Our discussion moves on from there to the betrothal and wedding process. I hope you’ll find it interesting.
